STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Engineering is inherently interdisciplinary in nature as different streams compliment the functioning of each other to reach a common objective. The way we are witnessing a staggering growth in the arena of computers and electronics shows that humans are expanding the horizons each passing moment and newer dimensions of knowledge await us. The combination of electrical and computer engineering ECE brings about the best of technologies which are the driving force behind the progress of other fields of engineering. Having been introduced to the stream of electronics and telecommunications EXTC, I have realized the potential that ECE can achieve and I wish to be a part of the contributing minds in the near future who would find innovative solutions and work towards the betterment of mankind.None of my parents come from an engineering background but since childhood I was a technology buff and took to computers and electronic gadgets from an early age. Being a good student at the school I was in the top 10 percentile in my senior secondary and chose the stream of science for my further studies. Upon the completion of my junior college, I opted for engineering as through it one could get to understand the heart of technology. I went on to enrol in the Bachelors of EXTC from Ramrao Adik Institute Of Technology, Mumbai University. During the initial part of my undergraduate program I struggled to strike a balance between academics and co-curricular activities as I faced backlogs in few subjects. Taking a lesson from the failures I bounced back and improved my performance towards the latter half of the program and have managed to secure an overall CGPA of 6.18/10.Being introduced to various subjects in the domain of electronics and telecommunications gave me a good understanding of the basics of the field. Apart from gaining the theoretical know-how about the domain I also got an opportunity to undertake various practical projects during my Bachelor’s program which boosted my technical skills. In the third year of the program I developed a project about the ‘fastest finger first’ buzzer circuit which gave me a practical understanding of microcontrollers and their applications. While in my final year, I undertook an academic project on ‘Automated PCB Drilling Machine’. In this the holes were drilled automatically using the image of the circuit thereby eliminating the need of manual techniques. The purpose of this project was to make a prototype for the small scale industry because the current machines used in drilling the PCB holes are expensive and could be used by large scale industries. Working on this project gave me a good understanding about both the hardware aspect through Arduino Uno board, stepper and DC motors, as well as about the software like MATLAB and EAGLE PCB layout development software.
