Most or independent candidates sympathetic to the CP

Most Americans would
characterize democracy as a political framework with free elections, peaceful
gatherings, and rule of law and related foundations of liberal democracy,
according to Dickson research, under 5% of Chinese indicated those
characteristics Dickson (2016). In the case of China, there are no free
elections as opposition parties are banned and elections are held at local
level for representative aligned to the Communist Party. China is a one party
state and the leader of the country is elected by the members of the Communist

Around 15% of the Chinese
individuals in an analysis done by Dickson (2016) characterized democracy as
far as rights: for instance, “individuals appreciate the privilege to
data” and “the open door and appropriate to tell the government their
perspectives.” Another 15% distinguished equity and equity among citizens:
“Everybody is dealt with similarly” and “to be more equivalent
as far as wage, lodging, and business” were common reactions of this
compose. To put it plainly, around 33% of urban Chinese characterized democracy
regarding balanced governance or different ways that nearly coordinate Western
thoughts (Dickson 2016).The above mentioned definition points out the notion
that urban Chinese people also view democracy in the same way the Western
society views it also in a slightly different facet

By differentiate, an
alternate 30% of Chinese depicted democracy regarding how pioneers should run
the government, not how they are picked. Remarks, for example, “the general
population and the government are reliant” and “government
arrangements reflect popular assessment” get at this idea. All the more
critically, these remarks recommend that the general population’s interests and
the state’s advantages are in a general sense in congruity (Dickson 2016). This shows that the Chinese people believe that it does not
really matter how the government is put in place or elected but as long as they
serve the people, it’s all that matters. But in the Western society, the people
should chose their desired government so that their needs are catered for. That
is why in a democratic country there are many parties with each presenting
their own manifestos on how they would govern if they are put in power.

flaws in China’s political framework are self-evident. The government doesn’t
make a falsification of holding national elections and rebuffs the individuals
who transparently call for a multi-party state. The press is vigorously censored
and the Internet is blocked (Bell 2015).In a democratic state this is an
infringement of human rights but in China it is a way of controlling dissent.
China does hold elections at district level and only candidates vetted by the
Communist Party (CP) or independent candidates sympathetic to the CP or other
parties aligned to the CP are allowed to contest. Those are the only elections
that China holds at grassroots level. In order for an individual to rise
through the political ladder, he or she has to join the Communist Party or else
their political career will be cut short as opposition politics is none
existent in China.

Both countries share mutual characteristics
of dictatorial regimes and the rule of law tends to benefit the politically
privileged in their continued control of the government. The two countries
poses an influential connection between business and the government, there is
violation of human rights especially to anyone opposing the government of China
and corruption is rife in both countries. The difference between the two
countries is that is that Russia is a hybrid of an authoritarian regime with
democratic institutions such as being a multi-party state and competitive
parties. Whereas China is a straight authoritarian regime and the leadership is
opposed to moving towards democracy as understood by the Western societies.
Although their understanding of democracy is through consultative means.
